Mother's Day

How wonderful it is to be a mother. The joy through every stage of their life is more wonderful and exciting than the last. Yes--I miss them being little and those little arms around my neck---but the joy you feel when your children are faithful Christians, and grown is the greatest feeling in the world. I thank my children----all three of them---for making me so proud of calling them mine.

This mother's Day was extra special because John and Brenna came to town. They took me to a wonderful lunch and refused to let me cook--and gave me the most beautiful flowers. They are my new favorites. They are still beautiful a week later and still have two more that will bloom any day. Collin gave me a hot stone massage. I asked him if he personally was going to give it to me----and uhhh that was not funny. ha. With him being home he must know how much I need that stress reliever of a massage. So I cannot wait for that. And Dik gave me something I have always wanted but we just did not ever buy---a Kitchen Aid Stand mixer. I am excited to use it on bread, cakes, cookies---calories---oops. :)

Collin is now learning the ropes at Taco Casa He is going to know more than the rest of us. He decided that if he was going to have to learn it anyway--he might as well learn and get paid. The Saturday of MOther's Day he, Dik and John all worked there for training. So he started the next week. Brenna and I had fun shopping that Saturday.

John and Brenna have decided to become foster parents!!! We are all so excited for them. They put in for ages 3 and under. If the opportunity is there, they will adopt, too. They said they wanted to adopt before having their own kids. We are so proud of them. I cannot wait to be a "Nonnie"??? How do you like that? I was going to be Gigi but that sounds too much like someone's name for me. So then I was going to be Gammie but then Brenna mentioned Nonnie and I think that is very cute. Dik is going to be Poppie. So we may be those in just a few weeks to a couple months!!! We will have to do some classes to be able to keep the foster kids. But we can't wait to do it!!!

Ok--I am going to put a few pictures from mother's day weekend, etc.

Much love to you all!!!

A New Favorite Product

I don't know if any of you have tried True Lemon or True Orange or True Lime yet, but I LOVE IT!! You pour a little packet into your water bottle or glass of water and it is like putting in a fresh lemon!! My favorites are the lemon and orange. If you would like some free samples--here is the address: http://truelemon.com/gratitude-sample.html

Changes and more Changes.

Well here goes another change in our life. Dik and I have decided to put a Taco Casa in Abilene. We now have the property and the building plans are being done. It will be by ACU at the new Wal-Mart. John will be the general manager and when Collin graduates we plan on putting a second one in for him. We will take our time moving there. We don't know what will be required of us yet--time wise. But I always said I wanted to live by my grandkids and this will be our way to do it. Dik will stay with his pharmaceutical job as long as he can though. I will probably be in Abilene quite a bit. We are really looking forward to it. We worked at the one here last Saturday and we had the best time.

Hope everyone is doing well!!!!

Angel Fire----What a great time

Wow--What a great time we had with 14 great people. It is so great to meet new people and also spend time with people you already love. Although I did not ski I had a great time. The first day, I spent with Ashlyn and Adyson and Kristi's mom. Of course I love those two!! Even more now. The second day Dik and I went to Taos. He needed a day of rest after the first day. The third day, Brenna and John had a day of rest, so I was always in good company. I learned a new card game----Dirty Dozen. Wow why can you play cards til 2:00 a.m?? The house was BEAUTIFUL and holds 44 people!! We had so much room! The food was GREAT. Kristi's mom made home made chicken and dumplings that were EXCELLENT! And Darcy McGill's peanut butter cake??? Who can do better than that??? Thanks to all that were there. You made a wonderful four days for me--stress free and loving every minute of it!!! Here are a few pictures:

The Changes of Life

Boy, can things change in life quickly. My dear friend Karen Mullins has up and moved to Oklahoma. I am very happy for them but miss her already. God has wonderful things planned for her and Curtis. Another change is that Collin is home. He had all of ACU he could take. He had never been truly happy there and only saw the negative at ACU, the liberalism of chapel and trying to make the kids happy, not God. The tradition ends here in our family. Brenna and John said they would never send their kids to ACU and Collin ---well it would not be a thought for his kids. What a shame that a school who claims to be a church of Christ school does not use God's church's principals. The one and only good thing about ACU that he went back for was his roommate, Tyson. They had gotten very close in a year and a half and Collin really wanted another semester living with him. Tyson is a wonderful Christian young man and we are very thankful for him.

Some exciting news---Dik's dad is getting married. She is a WONDERFUL lady. We all love her very much. She is so good to Jim. The wedding is February 29 and Dik is performing the ceremony!!!

We love life and thank God for our health and our family and friends.
Much love til I write again!
